A Private Knowledge Community for a National Medical Association
Community platform
The Challenge
A national association of about 3,000 medical specialists had a real knowledge-sharing problem: members were swapping clinical cases and insights in ordinary messaging apps, where every conversation scrolled away within days and nothing was ever findable again. Valuable discussions simply vanished.
What We Built
We built an invite-only community platform designed around how these members actually think and work.
- Posting is as easy as sending a chat message
- Image-first case sharing, with built-in reminders to de-identify patient images before posting
- 23 subspecialty communities that members subscribe to based on their interests
- Discussion threads with reactions and mentions, so conversations stay organized
- A “promote to knowledge” action that turns the best posts into a permanent, searchable library
- Full-text search with filters, so nothing gets lost the way it did before
- Polls and interactive quizzes for engagement and continuing education
- Installs like an app on any phone, no separate download needed
- An invitation system with accountability — every member’s inviter stays on record
The Result
Discussions that used to disappear within days now build into a lasting, searchable body of knowledge that the whole association can draw on. Members get a private, professional space for case discussion instead of a general-purpose messaging app never designed for it, and the association has visibility into how the community grows through its invitation trail.
